About Us

Welcome to Grosse Pointe Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Our family-owned and operated facility provides care for up to 99 residents in north suburban Chicago.

Meet Our Founders and Staff

Each of our three founding family members at Grosse Pointe Manor is an accredited professional in health care.

The Grosse Pointe Manor facility was built in 1967 and updated extensively over the last several years, with resident room upgrades completed in 2012. Our family has owned and managed Grosse Pointe Manor since 2001.

The second generation of our family is now involved at Grosse Pointe Manor and we look forward to our future here. We strive to deliver high-quality care with compassion. We maintain a bright, comfortable, friendly operation. We lead a capable team that shares our dedication. We are proud of our work.

Who We Are



Sherry has more than 20 years of experience in the Long-Term Care & Rehabilitation field. Earning her Bachelors in Nursing (BSN) from University of Illinois at Chicago; Sherry is both a Registered Nurse and Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. She is also an Infection Preventionist, with APIC accreditation. Sherry has used her experience and knowledge from both disciplines in her position at Grosse Pointe Manor, which she has held since (2001). Sherry enjoys cooking, exercising, reading, and spending time with her family - her husband Joe, three children, and seven grandchildren.


Integrative/Transitional Cardiological Care at Grosse Pointe Manor

Dr. Okner is a Board Certified Cardiologist who completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan in 1982. He received his Medical Degree in 1987, and proceeded to complete his internship, residency, and cardiology fellowship at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Dr. Okner was appointed Chief Resident for the Department of Medicine from 1988-1991. He has been practicing in Chicago for more than 20 years. As a passion outside of work, he is a proud member of many non-for-profits as well as a frequent guest on WGN Radio discussing and answering health-related questions. He has co-authored a book The No Bull Book on Heart Disease. His passion is to educate individuals on living a healthier life.


Director of Nursing

Michelle Castronova, our Director of Nursing and has been part of the Grosse Pointe Manor family since 2005. Michelle started as a nursing assistant while in nursing school. She has held positions as Charge Nurse, Restorative Nursing Coordinator, Admissions and Marketing Director and Director of Nursing. Michelle is a Registered Nurse with certification in Restorative Nursing. She has been very active in her community and has coached 16 years of Little League Baseball and 8 years of co-ed basketball in Norwood Park, as part of her volunteer work. Michelle has 3 sons who have all been employed at Grosse Pointe Manor.

Our full program of rehabilitation services, 24-hour nursing, and pleasant accommodations reflects these values.
